Here's a preview of the self-learning DVDs - Mridanga Cintamanih

I thought I will share with you a sneak preview of the self-learning DVDs that was released earlier this month. It has had a rousing response during the ongoing Chennai Music Season and I would like to thank all my well-wishers, disciples and the Swathi Soft Solutions team for having made this a memorable launch for me.

Respected Sir,

Thanks a lot for releasing these wonderful DVDs. I am definitely going to try them. I live in USA and it has been very difficult for me to further my knowledge in mridangam due to both lack of time and sources. It would be of great use to people like me to further our skills just by ourselves. Even though I sincerely believe guru -shishya interaction is very very important and infact the most critical to learning this wonderful instrument.

Sir,

On a side-note I had learnt mridangam for 2 years when I was in India. But, unfortunately I had to discontinue because of fathers death. And ever since I came to USA, I have been learning and playing so many varied instruments like banjo, djembe, cajone and udu in drum circles here. But, it hurts me that I am not dong anything to learn mridangam. I take this opportunity to ask you to help me out in this regard. This is definitely not the right way to contact a guru, but I am far away and my resources in India are limited, I do not know whom to contact. Please accept this as my first offerings to you.

Thanks
Deepak

Dear Deepak,

Thanks for your interest and am sure your interest will be furthered with these DVDs.

As far as learning mrudangam is concerned, there are many gurus from whom you can learn in the USA. You must check if you have anybody in your area and pursue it. If you have an intent, I have always found, you will find time.

All the best.

Respected Guruji,

I have bought the full set of these precious DVDs and took your blessings in person after the wonderful violin duo concert with you on Mrdidangam at Bangalore.

I am learning Mridangam in Bangalore for the past one year and I find there is difference in what I am learning and the method detailed in your DVDs.

Please advise how to go about.

Sir,
I too happened to watch your interview in Kairali with John Brittas. That was really really charming.

I could not stop laughing when you revealed that you are a James Bond fan.

Thank you so much for taking time out to engage with us.
Prayers to your health and happiness.
And yes, being an amateur drummer, I am most keen to lay my hands on "Mridanga Chintamanih". Thank you once again Sir.
